Josey Powell, Rylen Sutherland and Marlee Henson competed this past weekend in the KYHSRA (Kentucky High School Rodeo Association) State Finals in Greenville, Ky.
Josey won the Kentucky State All Around Cowgirl, Champion Breakaway Roping, Champion Team Roping-Header and fourth in Poles. Josey received three scholarships and the Top Hand Award and her horse Jesse earned Horse of the Year.
Rylen Sutherland earned Kentucky State All Around Cowboy, Champion Steer Wrestling, Champion Calf Roping and Champion Team Roping-Heeler. His horse Hollywood also won Horse of the Year. Rylen and Josey will be ordering a Teskey’s Trophy saddle for their All Around Cowboy/Cowgirl wins.
Marlee Henson won Champion Barrel Racer, placed third in Trap Shooting and received some scholarships.
Josey, Rylen and Marlee will make the trip to Gillette, Wyoming for the NHSFR (National High School Finals Rodeo) July 16-22.
Kolton Powell competed in the Kentucky Junior High State Finals and won All Around Cowboy, first in Ribbon Roping, first in Calf Roping and first in Saddle Bronc. He took second in Bare Back, Chute Doggin and Team Roping and placed fourth in Goat Tying. Kolton will compete at the NJHRF (National Junior High Finals Rodeo) in Lebanon, Tennessee June 18-24.
