Staff at the Woodlands Nature Station in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area will host a celebration of International Migratory Bird Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 13 at the station.

The day will feature programs and activities for visitors. Native plants will also be sold as a fundraiser to support the care of the Nature Station’s resident rescued wildlife. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and older; $3 for ages 5-12; and those 4 and younger are free.

“This day honors the spectacle and struggles of our feathered friends who migrate between North America and the tropics,” says Nature Station Lead Interpreter John Pollpeter. “Meet a Golden Eagle from Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky, peek in on some baby birds, enjoy kid-friendly crafts, games and more! We’ll be spotlighting nature’s most amazing travelers with special programs throughout the day.”

Events include:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Backyard Bird Scavenger Hunt
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hummingbird Migration Game
  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bird Kids craft
  • 1-1:45 p.m. Live Golden Eagle program
  • 2:30 p.m. Baby Birds!
  • 3:30 p.m. Dinnertime for Red Wolves
  • 4:3o p.m. Parade of Raptors
