Local man taken to Vanderbilt following accident; woman charged after pills found in underwear

A local man was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center following an single-vehicle accident.

According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Department reports, emergency responders were dispatched about 8:59 a.m. May 4 to Highway 95 near Calvert City in response to a single-car crash. Paul E. Carr was driving south on Ky. 95 when he ran off the left shoulder while fixing the rearview mirror in his vehicle and into a ditch.

Marshall County EMS took Carr to Lourdes Hospital. He was later transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Deputies responded to a single-car crash about 10:52 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 at the ramp from Purchase Parkway to U.S. Highway 641. Upon arrival, responding deputy Dennis Lewis reported the smell of alcohol coming from the driver. Upon further investigation, Rachel L. Clark, 36, of Kuttawa, was arrested and charged on suspicion of DUI, first offense. She was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

While at the center, jailers reported they discovered a controlled substance in Clark’s clothing.

According to a MCSD report, staff discovered two Hydrocodone pills in Clark’s underwear. Deputies filed additional charges of first-degree promoting contraband and third-degree possession of a controlled substance.
