Marshals beat Webster County in no-hitter, fall to Calloway County

Drake Anderson, at the plate earlier this season, in three games at Louisville was 3/10 with two doubles, one RBI and scored three runs.

In five games over Spring Break at St. Louis and Louisville, the Marshals were 3-2, splitting with Clayton, MO, then traveling to Louisville where they dropped their first game to Butler but followed that up with two wins over Fairdale and Southern.

Monday at Webster County, the Marshals defeated the Trojans in an 11-0 no-hitter in five innings with the win going to Weston Harper in four innings and Cameron Ives finishing off the final inning on the mound.

An RBI single by Lucas Forsythe scored the Marshals first run in the first inning. They put three more runs on the board in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Ives and two run double by Cole Austin to lead 4-0. Three more runs in the fourth came on an RBI single by Cole Griggs, RBI single by Ives and sacrifice fly by Forsythe.

The Marshals put the game away in the fifth, scoring four more runs on a two run double by Jackson Beal, one run double by Griggs and RBI single by Ives.

In their first district game at Calloway County Tuesday, the Marshals lost 3-1. Tied 1 -1 after four innings following a first innings RBI double by Calloway’s Lofton Pigg and third inning RBI single by Jackson Beal. The Lakers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Pigg hit his second double of the game to bring in two runs. Lucas Forsythe gave the Marshals a chance with a two-out triple in the sixth inning but was left stranded.

The Marshals (10-4) will have a chance to split district games with the Lakers (4-5) when they play again at home on Thursday at 5:00.
