Gillard Mathis, age 77, of Benton, KY, died Saturday, March 25, 2017, at his residence in Benton, KY. Mr. Mathis was a retired truck driver for the Marshall County Road Department and was a member of Union Ridge Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Model A Restorers Club.
He was the son of the late Elvie Freeman Mathis and the late Retha (Anderson) Mathis. He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Mildred Jones, Barbara Click, and Betty Ruth Mathis.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Mathis of Benton, KY; three sons: David Mathis, Ronnie Mathis, and Randy Mathis all of Benton, KY; four grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, March 27, 2017. Funeral service will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 28, 2017, with Rev. Charlie Canup and Rev. Jack Kee officiating. Interment will be at Union Ridge
Cemetery, Benton, KY.
