Betsy Sue McClanahan Murphy, age 86 of Gilbertsville KY, passed away on March 24, 2017 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marshall Co. KY.
Betsy was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Billy J. Murphy in 2016, her mother and father May Lou and Howard McClanahan, and brother James McClanahan of Marion Illinois.
Betsy is survived by one sister Judy (Jerry) Hartman, of Marion, IL. Betsy is also survived by 4 children: Michael (Pella) Murphy of Warner-Robbins, GA; Susan (Joe) Toon of Boaz, KY; Bridget Murphy (Lane Schmidt) of Murray, KY; and Dennis (Gaye) Murphy of Tempe, AZ.
Betsy is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Abigail and Benjamin Toon; Andrew Murphy; Sean and Brian Murphy, and one great granddaughter Brooklyn Toon.
Betsy was also survived by her loyal and much loved Labrador Retriever, Connor.
Betsy and Bill were avid boaters throughout their life together, exploring waterways such as the Ohio, Tennessee and Cumberland rivers and the Great Lakes.
