DRAFFENVILLE – Scoring 13 runs on 12 hits, the Lady Marshals picked up their first district win Thursday 13-1 over Murray. They led early, scoring three runs in their first at-bat that began on singles by Lexee Miller and McKenzie Tack. A double by Kinley Edwards scored Miller then Tack and Edwards scored on a double by Presley Jezik for a 3-0 lead.
They added one run in the second inning on an RBI single by Tack and a big five-run third inning came off of a two-run single by Aubree Jo Kemp, a run by Gracey Murt on a wild pitch, a run by McKenzie Elkins and another wild pitch that brought in Cayson Conner for a 9-0 lead.
An RBI double by Sarenna Thomassi in the fourth inning put the Lady Marshals up 10-0 and they would add three more runs by Shelby Wadkins, Tomassi and Miller to lead 13-0. Murray scored their only run in the fourth quarter by Paige Miller on a fielder choice.
Kemp earned the win on the mound in four innings of work, allowing two hits and no runs.
