Carbondale, IL – Marshall County’s track teams competed in their second indoor meet Friday and Saturday at the SIU Boys and Girls High School Indoor Track and Field Invitational on the campus of SIU-Carbondale. A good kick-start to their outdoor season that begins March 14th, the team is already posting some good results.
The best finish of the meet came from Jackson Brown in the 60 meter high hurdles. Brown finished fourth in the finals with a time of 8.86 which is a new school record.
Garrett Fulgham placed fifth in the 800 meters among a field of 76, finishing with a time of 2:06.68, Wade Derington took 9th in the 200 meter finals in 24.85 and another school record was set in the 60 meter prelims by Tanner Clough who placed 19th in 7:54.
Kirsten Walker placed 19th in the shot put for the girl’s team with a throw of 29-10.00 and Alexia Minter turned in the best finish in running events placing 28th in 6:26.39 in the 1600 meters.
A field of 46 boys teams and 39 girls teams competed in the indoor event, led by powerhouse teams like Cahokia High School, Evansville Mater Dei and O’Fallon High School.
