The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that occurred earlier this month on Heritage Lane, in Marshall county. A 9mm SCCY pistol was stolen during the burglary. On Wednesday January 18th at 7:50 p.m. Deputy Dennis Lewis responded to an injury with injuries on KY 95. Upon investigation it is believe that William J. Foust 21, of Benton, was traveling south on KY 95 when he over-corrected causing the vehicle to start rolling over. Foust and his front passenger Austina Stufflebeam 21, of Benton, was both ejected from the vehicle. There were three passengers in the back seat of the vehicle that were not injured. Foust was transported to Lourdes Hospital and later flown to Vanderbilt to be treated for his injuries. Stufflebeam was transported to Marshall County Hospital for her injuries.

On Thursday January 19th Deputy Luke Rudd was dispatched to Salem Chapel Rd N and US 68 E in reference to an accident. Upon arrival Deputy Rudd observed the driver to be still sitting in the driver’s seat. The driver stated that he was eastbound on US Hwy 68 E when he ran off the road. Deputy Rudd observed an odor of alcohol present and located 4 empty beer bottles inside the vehicle. The subject admitted to drinking but could not state how many. The field sobriety test was conducted in which many indicators were present for being under the influence. Dennis G. Carlson 70, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 2nd Offense, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle and Failure to Produce Insurance Card.
