DRAFFENVILLE – Marshall County High School softball player, Payton Smothers, signed her National Letter of Intent Friday to play softball next year at Belmont University in Nashville. Payton is in the top five in Marshall County Softball history in RBI’s and home runs with a career 89 hits heading into her senior season in 248 at bats.

Payton’s batting average is .359, 35 extra base hits that include 22 doubles, 4 triples and 9 home runs. Payton has 76 RBI’s to her credit and has scored 62 runs. The Lady Marshals record during Payton’s career through her junior season is 89-49, four 20 win season’s and three 4th District Championships.

Payton plans to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy.
