DRAFFENVILLE – With the #1 seed in the 4th District Tournament, the Lady Marshals opened play Monday against Murray High, easily picking up the first set win 25-2 behind kills from Hannah Langhi and a couple of service aces from Ragan Harris and Alexis Hines.
In the second set, the Lady Marshals put a few serves in the net, allowing the Lady Tigers to stay close until leading 6-3, they were able to pull away by ten points at 14-4, adding five more points highlighted by a kill by Harris for a 19-4 lead until Murray scored their first point since trailing 9-4. The Lady Marshals won set two 25-12.
Leading 6-4 in the third set, a kill by Harris and two from Hines stretched the Lady Marshals lead to 13-5 but the Lady Tigers climbed back into the game on a block on Harris and hits that went out to close the margin to 21-16. The Lady Marshals held a 24-18 lead over a battling Murray team that scored the next two points to trail 24-20 before a kill by Langhi gave them the 25-20 win and a spot in Tuesday’s 4th District Championship game.
Langhi had 23 kills in the win followed by Hines with 7 and Harris with 5. Paige Henson had 33 assists, Langhi with 7 digs, and Hines with 5 service aces.
Christian Fellowship beat Calloway County 3-1 in the second semi-final game setting up a 4th District Championship between the Lady Marshals and Lady Eagles at Marshall County’s Auxiliary Gym Tuesday at 6:00.
Between games, the regular season All-District Team was announced.
