CFS will meet Marshall County in 4th District title game

DRAFFENVILLE – Christian Fellowship and Calloway County played in the second semi-final game of the 4th District Tournament. CFS won the two regular season matches between the two schools in very competitive 3-1 contests and Monday’s match would be no different.

Calloway jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first set before the Lady Eagles climbed their way back in, finally tying the game 11-11 on a kill by Maggie Wagner. CFS would continue to lead getting two straight kills from Abigail Cima for a 14-11 lead, holding onto that lead with great play at the net by Sarah Muller and Emma Alexander to take the win 25-18.

Six straight serves by Abbie Fletcher put the Lady Eagles up 8-2 in the second set, a lead they would hold until Calloway tied the game at 24-24. A hit in the net by Calloway gave CFS a 25-24 lead before Calloway would do the same and knot the game up again at 25-25. Calloway scored the next two points with the game winner coming on a kill by Chaney Hill to tie the match 1-1.

Cima, Emma Alexander and Muller combined for most of the Lady Eagles hits in the third set that was highlighted by several extended rallies in the back and forth battle that led to a 25-18 win for CFS to go up in the match 2-1.

After a 3-3 tie, CFS took control of the fourth set on several kills by Cima, Wagner and Muller and steady serving from Emma Alexander to win 25-13 and take the match 3-1.

Cima led in kills with 9 followed by Wagner with 7 and Karlee Phillips in assists with 35. CFS will meet Marshall County in Tuesday 4th District Championship at Marshall County at 6:00.
