It’s Wedding Day at the Homeplace 1850s Farm

Homeplace WeddingLAND BETWEEN THE LAKES, KY/TN – September 27, 2016 – Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area invites the public to an old-fashioned country wedding at the Homeplace 1850s Working Farm and Living History Museum on Saturday, October 1, from 1-3pm. Beginning at 10am, guests can view the wedding dress, hope chest, and wedding gifts.

“Weddings were important social events for a community during the 1850s,” says Cindy Earls, Lead Interpreter at the Homeplace 1850s Farm. “Everyone becomes part of the celebration, so come join the fun! As guests of the farm family, visitors can play traditional wedding games, listen to music, dance traditional dances from the 19th century, and wish the newlyweds well. We’ll also have traditional wedding cake and cider for all to sample.”
