Lane & 12 ft. Load Width Restriction on Purchase Pkwy at KY 348 Exit 43 Interchange at BENTON starting Tuesday, Sept 27

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans a lane and 12 ft. load width restriction along the Julian Carroll-Purchase Parkway at the KY 348 Exit 43 Interchange work zone at Benton starting on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.

This lane and 12 ft. load width restriction for both northbound and southbound traffic along the Purchase Parkway main line are to allow placement of guardrail and paving at the Exit 43 Benton-Symsonia Interchange.  All Purchase Parkway traffic will move to the left-hand or passing lane in this work zone.

This phase of the project is expected to take about 3 to 4 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $8.1 million project.  The target completion date is November 15, 2016.

This work to bring the Purchase Parkway/KY 348 Benton Exit 43 Interchange up to current FHWA standards is among several projects aimed at allowing Interstate 69 to eventually be extended southward along the Purchase Parkway to Mayfield.
