Benton, KY—-Justin Lamb, candidate for Benton City Council has received the support of the Iron Workers Local 782. “I am truly honored to have received this support from the hard working members of the Iron Workers Local 782,” Lamb said. “I will work every day to continue earning their support.”

Lamb comes from a working class background with several members of his family belonging to labor unions. “I was raised in a union household and I know firsthand the importance collective bargaining has on working families,” Lamb stated.

Lamb’s father, Kevin Lamb, is a member of the Carpenters Union Local 357; his grandmother Connie Lamb belonged to the United Steel Workers during her nearly 40-year career at Air Products/Seiksui in Calvert City; and his grandfather Jackie Darnall belonged to the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 227 during his 25-year career at Ryan Milk/Saputo Dairy in Murray.

Lamb had vowed to fight for organized labor and working people if elected to the city council. “We have seen a trend in recent years by various special interest groups pushing right to work laws in an effort to weaken unions and slash wages. If elected to city council, I will be a consistent voice for all the working people of our community and will oppose any right to work for less legislation whether it be on the federal, state, or local level.”

Lamb is a lifelong resident of Marshall County, growing up in the Olive community before moving to Benton in 2014. He and his wife, the former Lexie Cope, live in the South Benton precinct with their 8-year old nephew, Christopher Thompson. Lamb worked 7 years as an Administrative Assistant to the late Judge/Executive Mike Miller and has been employed at Manley’s Four Little Pigs in Benton since 2006. He is currently attending Murray State University seeking his Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations.

The race for Benton City Council will be held on Tuesday, November 8th.
