Marshals win match at Benton over Ballard and Calloway

BENTON – Marshall County hosted a match Thursday at Benton Country Club against Ballard Memorial and Calloway County. The Marshals came out on top with a score of 156 while Ballard edged Calloway with a score of 173 for second place and Calloway shot 174.

Individual medalist honors went to Marshall’s Quinn Eaton who shot a 1-over par 37. Also scoring for the Marshals was Grant Hackney 39, Garrett Howell 39, Tyler Powell 41 and Drake Butler 53.

The JV squad members also got in a round of nine holes. Nathan Clark shot 49, Nick Dowdy 56 and Ben Staples 67.

The Marshals played a match on Tuesday at Mayfield Country Club against Mayfield and Caldwell County. Mayfield took the win with a team score of 148, Marshall County was second with 160 and Caldwell County third with 181.

Medalist honors went to Mayfield’s Collins Dodson who shot 3-under 33.

Eaton led the Marshals with 38, Jay Nimmo and Hackney shot 40, Powell 42 and Howell 44.

The Marshals will head to Owensboro Country Club Saturday to play in the Owensboro Catholic Invitational.
