EASTBOUND I-24 Blocked by Injury Crash at 27mm UPDATE

UPDATE

One eastbound lane is now open.  Recovery efforts continue.

The vehicle is down an embankment in the median between two bridges.  The recovery team has requested an additional tow truck.

 

Estimated duration is still one hour.

UPDATE

The Eastbound lanes of I-24 are still blocked.  Traffic is backed up where it is
exited off at US 62.

Eastbound motorists may avoid some of the delay by exiting northbound on the
Purchase Parkway to connect with US 62 eastbound.

Estimated duration is now 1 hour.


ORIGINAL STORY:

Both eastbound lanes of I-24 are blocked by an injury crash involving a motor home
at the 27 mile marker.

Marshall County 911 Dispatch reports eastbound lanes are blocked to allow a
helicopter to pick up the injured.

Detour is via the US 62 Calvert City Exit 27 Interchange or the I-24/Purchase
Parkway Exit 25 Interchange along US 62 to the KY 453 Grand Rivers Exit 31
Interchange to return to I-24.

Estimated duration is 2 hours.
