A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans an additional work zone lane restriction along the Purchase Parkway at the KY 348 Exit 43 Interchange at Benton on Friday & Monday, August 26 & 29, 2016. The contractor plans to unload and install beams for bridges along the new ramps on the north leg of the interchange. To facilitate the delivery of the bridge beams, trucks will be required to park along the shoulder of the parkway. This additional traffic restriction is expected to be in place for southbound traffic on Friday, then for northbound traffic on Monday. This will require all traffic to move to the left in this work zone. This is in addition to traffic restrictions that are already in place in this work zone. Extra caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow. Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $8.1 million project. The anticipated completion date is November 15, 2016. This work to bring the Purchase Parkway/KY 348 Benton Exit 43 Interchange up to current FHWA standards is among several projects aimed at allowing Interstate 69 to eventually be extended southward along the Purchase Parkway to Mayfield.
