Old Business:

MCAC:

Ann Riley reported that all summer camps have been completed.  Upcoming events for MCAC are Mom/Son Fun night on August 27, 2016 with tickets at $20.00 each.  Dinner will be served and the entertainment will be Jason Lindsey, the Science Guy.  On Stage with DJ will be September 17 at KSPAC with tickets at $12.00.  They are general admissions not reserved seating.  Progresive Dinner on October 13,  2016 with tickets at $50.00 each.  In October we also offer “Showcase of the Arts” where local artist works are displayed in business around the county.

Master Plan:

Elena Blevins reported that she attended the City Council meeting and invited everyone to next Fridays meeting featuring Mr. John Calhoun letting us know how he can help us with a Master Plan for the city and his cost for this service.  Elena Blevins presented some very professional looking post cards to be used as invitations to this event.  We will provide coffee for the meeting.  Jessica Scillian will be asked to let the Woman’s Club know.  Ann Riley was asked to notify George Milam.

            Cruise-In Report:

Lisa Peck went over the check list for the August Cruise-In as we usually do the Friday before the event but as we will be having a special guest (Mr. Calhoun) we did it one week early.  Special attention needs to be paid to one speaker.  Lisa Peck passed our volunteer sign up sheets.  She needs at least two volunteers for the Swap Meet and several for “on top of the hill”.  Kayla will compose an email to send to the Partnership asking for volunteers for July 30, 2016.  Anyone who can be available needs to contact Lisa Peck.  Someone is working to restore the tents that the storm destroyed.  Dave Puckett made a motion that we give Lisa Peck the authority to replace two tents.  Tina Fox second the motion.  Motion carried. The featured band for July will be the Craig Russell Band.  Auto zone will be featured this month with great prizes.  Small Town Productions will also be here.

Local Shopping Committee:

Dave Puckett shared his thoughts on this endeavor.  He thinks that merchants will not be inclined to spend much money not knowing what the return on their investment would be.  He suggested that we try to utilize the social media to get the message out.  Possibly doing an interview with local merchants and putting it on You Tube or Face Book or a blog.  We probably need a special meeting to discuss this one subject and to find someone qualified to do this.

            Progressive Dinner Report:

Ann Riley reported that we are closer to meeting our goal of having all the information for the posters ready for the designers by the end of the month.  Elena Blevins reported that she has contacts out trying to secure  auction items and is waiting on return phone calls.  Diane Temple will take care of the photos this year and we will ask Suzann Cass to help her.  We will probably use the second stop (MC Court House) as the venue for the photos.  Ticket sales have already begun (on a hold if paid for basis) even though they have not been printed yet.  The new balance in the checking account is $650.01 reflecting the ticket sales.

New Business:

Larry Krouse and Elena Blevins reported that there will be some changes in our Dickens presentation this year.            Several different scenarios are under consideration and they will let us know when plans are finalized.  Larry Krouse and Dave Puckett reported that we will be allowed to use the Green Turtle Bay trolley again this year.

Miscellaneous:

Sherra Riley reported that at the City Council meeting earlier this week, the council voted to donate $1,000.00 to the Master Plan account.   This move will allow the Tourist Commission the freedom to also donate $1,000.00 to the fund.  The City Council  will also underwrite the Progressive Dinner in the amount of $2,500.00.  The council also approved the logo for the City of Benton.
