Land of former plant to be donated to school system

A defunct Marshall County plant will have its former property donated to a local school system.

Pepsi Mid-America, based out of Marion, Ill., has agreed in principle to relinquish the 10-acre property on US 641 North in Draffenville to the Marshall County Board of Education.

The property was once the home to over 20 jobs for local residents before it’s consolidation with another facility in Paris, Tenn. and Paducah two years ago.

The Board approved chairman Rocky Hudson’s signature on the donated land deed at their last meeting, where Superintendent Trent Lovett said the land will be used as a bus and maintenance garage.
