Marshall County honors their own in annual Memorial Day Program

DRAFFENVILLE – The annual Memorial Day Program at the Veterans Honor Plaza at Mike Miller Park took place Monday at 11:00 am to  honor and remember the men and women of Marshall County who gave all while serving in our nation’s armed forces.

All Marshall County veterans were recognized as well as those currently serving.

American Legion Post 236 of Calvert City posted the Colors followed by the Opening Prayer by Reverend Kim Morris. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the American Legion Post 236 Ladies Honor Guard, the National Anthem was sung by Misty Wagner and Judge Shea Nichols led the singing of Battle Hymn of the Republic.

The Placement of the Wreath was followed by remarks from State Representative Will Corsey and Keynote Speaker Senator Danny Carroll.

Marshall County Judge/Executive Kevin Neal was surprised with a brick that had been placed by his daughter, in honor of his service and another one representing his Purple Heart. Neal was as a combat Marine and served three tours of duty in the Middle East.
