Interstate 24 Lane Closure in Marshall County on Tuesday

PADUCAH, Ky. (May 24, 2016) A contractor for The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to close the right lane of Interstate 24 east in Marshall County on Tuesday, May 24 for installation of a temporary concrete barrier.

The contractor plans to close the right lane of I-24 east where exit 52A from the northbound Purchase Parkway merges with I-24 east in Calvert City (mile marker 25.3) to mile marker 25.6 from 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 to 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, CDT. The closure is necessary to install a temporary concrete wall along the shoulder in preparation for construction of a bridge as part of the I-69 corridor project.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on the $37.8 million interchange reconstruction project.  The new I-24/I-69 Calvert City interchange has a target completion date of July 1, 2018.

Motorists should expect delays and are advised to approach and travel through the work zone with caution.
