On Thursday May 5th Court Security Officer Barry Howell was notified by Probation and Parole that there was a male subject who had reported to the Judicial Building who seemed to be intoxicated. Deputy Howell made contact with the subject and observed a strong odor of alcohol from the subject. Joe B. Coomer 52, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place.
On Thursday May 5th at 3:59 p.m. Deputy Steven Oakley responded to US 68 W in reference to an accident with possible injuries. Mary A. Read 81, of Paducah, was traveling westbound on US 68 while Virginia H. Beane 51, of Murray, was traveling eastbound. Read made a left hand turn striking Beanes’ vehicle in the passenger side area of the vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch. Read was taken to Western Baptist Hospital by Marshall County EMS to be treated for injuries.
