Boys first, girls second in Marshall home track meet

DRAFFENVILLE – In advance of Friday’s Area 1 Championships at Murray State University, the Marshall County track team hosted a meet Tuesday giving athletes a good warm-up as well as some experience for some of Marshall’s middle school runners at the meet.

Currently, nine Marshall County track team members rank in the top 10 in Class 3A state rankings. Collin Gunn is ranked 6th in the 1600 meters with 4:32.46; Drey Reed is in a 5-way tie for 4th in the high jump with 5’10”; Garrett Womack, Bryce Ladd and Logan Hicks are in a 3-way tie for 9th in the pole vault with 9’6″; Sydney Nelson is ranked 6th in shot put with a throw of 34’2.5″; Audrey Grizzard is ranked 3rd in the pole vault with 8’6″ (Grizzard has since set a new height of 9′); Sydney Temple is in a 6-way tie for 4th with 8.0.; Keagin Brooks ranks 5th in discus with 94’4″.

Calloway County girls won Tuesday’s 10-team meet followed by the Lady Marshals in 2nd and Graves County 3rd. The Marshall boys took first, Calloway 2nd and Graves 3rd.
