DRAFFENVILLE – Payton Smothers stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning with bases loaded and a 1-0 Lady Marshal lead and hit a grand slam over the left field fence, scoring Lexee Miller, Bailey Murphy and Abby Fiessinger to propel the Lady Marshals into a 5-0 lead over Calloway County.
The Lady Marshals left two stranded on base in the 4th and one in the 5th before the Lady Lakers scored their lone run in the 6th on an RBI double by Anna Beth Carter.
The 2nd home run of the game came off the bat of Miller in a 2-run blast over the right field fence for the 7-1 win.
Gabi Snow pitched a solid 7 innings, striking out 3, allowing 4 hits and 1 run.
