Possibility for freezing conditions this week in our area

In spite of some 70-degree afternoons in the past few weeks, there looks to be at least one more freeze in your garden this weekend.

The National Weather Service office in Paducah looks ahead to the possibility of a low of 32 degrees across the region early Saturday morning.

But then, that’s not far off the norm for the area.

According to weather service records, the average date for the Lakes Area’s last freeze is April 6.

The record for the latest freeze of the season is May 7, which occurred in 1944.

Sensitive garden plants and vegetation may need protection from frost overnight Friday into Saturday morning.

Western Kentucky is actually getting a break compared to the rest of the state; the Louisville forecast at the end of the week includes snow showers and lows in the mid-20s.
