CHARLES “CHUCK” FISCHER, Charles M. Fischer, 82 of Gilbertsville KY, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY.

On March 6, 1934 Charles Martin Fischer was born in Seattle, WA and spent most of his early years there. Chuck served in the United States Air Force as an A&E mechanic and was a veteran of the Korean War. After his military service, he worked for Boeing as a mechanic assigned to maintenance of B-52’s. Chuck graduated from Washington State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. While in college he was a member of the honor fraternity Tau Beta Pi and served as president of the student chapter of American Society of Mechanical Engineers. In 1965 he moved his family to Kentucky and began his career with B.F. Goodrich. During an assignment in Pueblo, CO, he earned his Professional Engineer license and after 29 years in various leadership assignments he retired in 1993. He was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Calvert City, KY. Passionate about the Knights of Columbus, he was a Fourth Degree Knight and served as Faithful Navigator for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Marie (Kauzlarich) Fischer of Gilbertsville, KY and last September they celebrated 60 years of marriage together; two sons, Daniel M. Fischer and wife Cindy of Brentwood, TN and David M. Fischer and wife Linda of Spring, TX; four grandchildren, Reece Fischer, Rivers Fischer Nesler, Aaron Fischer, and Amie Fischer; one brother, Michael Fischer of Vancouver, WA; and two sisters, Patty Sullivan of Ronald, WA and Olive Guer of Moses Lake, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. Fischer and Olive (Paulson) Fischer.

Visitation will be held 5:00pm until 8:00pm with prayer service being held at 6:00pm Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am Friday, April 8, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Calvert City, KY. Father Anthoni Ottagan will officiate and inurnment with military rites will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West at 2:00pm.
