DRAFFENVILLE – Five National Elite performances were achieved in Marshall County’s Invitational of the South track meet Saturday. Lily Lowe (Calloway) and Grace Campbell (Murray) in the high jump, Jaci Bickett (Henderson) in the pole vault, Aleah Nix (Madisonville North-Hopkins) in the triple jump and Javan Winters (Henry County) in the 1600 meters, all turned in top results in the nation.
In four events, new top marks in the state were set at the meet including the Daviess County boy’s 4 x 800 meter relay team with a time of 8:22.27, Aleah Nix’s triple jump distance of 36-7.25, Lily Lowe’s high jump of 5-10.25 also a new meet record and Javan Winders time of 4:18.46 in the 1600 meters.
Tilghman’s boys and Hopkinsville’s girls took top team honors among 29 teams from six states including Arkansas, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Kentucky.
Top 10 Marshall girl’s results came from Kaylie Riley who took 9th in the 100 meter hurdles, a 9th place finish for the 4 x 400 meter relay, 6th place in the 4 x 800 meter relay, Audrey Grizzard took 4th and Sydney Temple 5th in the pole vault, Sydney Nelson 1st and Kirsten Walker 7th in the shot put and Keagin Brooks 5th, Taylor Fennel 6th and Abigail Oakley 7th in the discus.
The boy’s team turned in 18 top 10 results with Collin Gunn’s 2nd place and Jackson Yates 9th place in the 1600 meters, Kyle McClain 5th and Cole Wyatt 7th in the 1600 meter freshman event, Jack Brown took 3rd in the 110 meter hurdles, Brown was 2nd and Tyler Hega 10th in the 300 meter hurdles, the 4 x 100 meter relay team place 8th, the 4 x 200 meter relay took 9th, the 4 x 400 meter relay took 3rd and the 4 x 800 placed 3rd, Drey Reed was 8th in the high jump, Bryce Ladd 6th, Logan Hicks 7th and Garrett Wommack 8th in the pole vault, Aaron Reed 6th in the triple jump, Cameron Miller 7th in shot put and 6th in discus.
