Public Investiture of Circuit Judge Jameson set for March 11th

Dexter/Hardin, KY (March 3rd, 2016) – Newly-elected Circuit Court Judge, Jamie Jameson, has set his public investiture event for Friday, March 11th, 2016 at 3:30 PM. The event is to be held at the Dexter-Hardin United Methodist Church, 5161 Radio Road in Dexter, KY.

“Generally, a newly-elected official will have until January to get around after an election to thank supporters and reach out to community leaders to start buiding and strengthening relationships, but we didn’t have that opportunity because of the special election.” Said Jameson. Jameson continued, “I met with Judge Foust the day after the election, and it’s been non-stop ever since. Now that we’ve had time to get settled in, I wanted to have a public event where the citizens of Marshall & Calloway can come and get to know my staff and I better, learn about our vision for the local criminal justice system, and enjoy some fellowship.”

When asked why he chose the Dexter-Hardin United Methodist Church as the location for the investiture event, Jameson stated, “The location is symbolic of the fact that I serve the people of both Marshall & Calloway Counties. The Church property is located on the county line separating the two jurisdictions. Further, I consider many members of that church to be friends.”

Jameson won a 3-way election for the Circuit Judge position for Kentucky’s 42nd Judicial Circuit, Division I, which encompasses Marshall & Calloway counties. The court handles many matters, but most are lawsuits over $5,000 or felony criminal matters. “If it makes the paper, it generally happens in Circuit Court. All extraordinarily serious legal matters are handled in Circuit Court,” said Jameson. “Since being in the job, it has become even more evident to me that our area has a terrible drug problem. Methamphetamines, cocaine, and heroin are like a virus in our community. With the encouragement of retired Judge Foust helping to smooth the way, our team has already been taking steps to make improvements in the area of drug rehabilitation as well as requiring significant punishments for drug traffickers and meth manufacturers, but the battle rages on,” stated Jameson.

Members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend the investiture event. The formal event in the church building will last approximately one hour; food and live music from many local artists will be provided afterwards in the church activities building on the church grounds.
