At last week’s Marshall County Parks Board meeting, Director Larry Whitt announced his resignation, effective immediately.
A formal letter of resignation was sent to the Marshall County Fiscal Court, which was read at Tuesday’s meeting.
In the letter, Larry Whitt thanked the community, fellow employees and Fiscal Court members for their support in the five years he has been on the job. He believed that much progress was made to enhance the day-use parks, and whoever his successor will be, he hopes that person will continue the great tradition that is associated with the department.
No reason was given for the abrupt resignation and the Fiscal Court said they would reevaluate the job duties and requirements that go with being Parks Director before searching for a replacement.
No timetable was set for a new hire.
