Blankenship takes first for the University of Tulsa at University of Kansas indoor meet

Tulsa, OK – The University of Tulsa men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to the University of Kansas in Lawrence to compete in the Jayhawk Classic on January 29th.  Robert Blankenship, former Marshall County track and field and soccer team member, is a part of the University of Tulsa track team.

A member of the Distance Medley Relay team, Robert ran the 400 meter leg as the team finished first, edging out the University of Kansas, breaking KU’s first place streak winning four of the last five Distance Medley Relay’s at this meet.

Tulsa’s first place time of 10:21.92 was just in front of the Kansas team with a second place time of 10:23.88.

Also on the Distance Medley Relay team with Robert are team members Braden Rennie from Mississauga, Canada, Austin Del Rosso from St. Louis and Ellis Coon from Warsaw, IN.

Among the 22 teams at the meet was the University of Missouri at Kansas City and the University of Central Arkansas.
The University of Tulsa is currently ranked #30 in the nation for Indoor Track and Field among NCAA Division 1 schools.

The collegiate indoor season wraps up on March 11th and 12th with the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, AL.
