Garth Douglas Watkins

garth watkinsMr. Garth Douglas Watkins, 73 of Springville, TN passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016, at the Henry County Medical Center. He was retired from West KY Rural Electric where he worked as a mechanic for 36 years. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps.

Mr. Watkins was a member of Puryear Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion Post 89 and the Amvets 45 in Paris, TN.

Born Thursday, October 22, 1942, he was the son of the late Freeman Cleaver and Mary Lou (Burpoe) Watkins.

Surviving are his wife, Marcia (Joyce) Watkins of Springville, TN; children; Anna Marie Watkins of Olive, KY, Belinda Gail Jett, husband Roger of Murray, KY, Craig Douglas Watkins, wife Gabriele of Benton, KY, Diana Renae Lawrence, husband Michael of Benton, KY, Joseph Freeman Watkins, wife Darlene of Benton, KY, step-children,
Richard Turner of Lancaster, PA and Annette Grimes of Trenton, TN; sister, Gelia Perrault of Dearborn Heights, MI; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and 6 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Nora Marie (Grden) Watkins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY. Rev. Mike Rhodes will officiate.

Private family Interment will be in the Horn Cemetery, Olive, KY.

Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY.
