Benton Middle basketball team caps off undefeated season

The Benton Middle School girls 7th grade basketball team ended their regular season by hosting a 9-team invitational tournament on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 8-9th.

The Benton girls opened the tournament on Friday with a 38 to 8 victory over Calloway County.

The other games on Friday Night saw Caldwell County defeating North Marshall Middle, Massac County defeating Graves County in overtime and Murray winning over South Marshall Middle.

The 7th grade Girls from Benton kicked things off at 8:00 on Saturday morning by defeating a previously unbeaten team from Ballard County 57-24.

In semi-final action, Massac defeated Murray, and Benton defeated Caldwell Co. 33-19.

The finals then pitted the girls from Benton Middle against Massac Co. where BMS completed the sweep and defeated the Lady Patriots 39-9.

The end of season tournament capped a 19-0 undefeated season by the Lady Marshals from Benton Middle.

“I am extremely proud of our team and the hard work, sacrifice, and dedication which they have exhibited all season,” said Coach Doug Lyles.
