UPDATE: Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews are making progress in their attack on snow accumulated from a line of intense snow squalls that rolled across the region overnight. However, cold temperatures have made for some tough going since our last report.
Crews have had to come back to the “A” Snow Priority Routes from time to time as dropping temperatures have created icy spots. The Snow & Ice Team is anticipating some help from sunshine that is expected to warm pavement temperatures and activate the salt that has already been spread.
There have been some reports of snow drifting across the roadway after plows have passed. Most counties have indicated they will keep crews that reported in last night on the road extra hours with a second shift reporting in this morning.
The windy conditions and cold temps have created wind chill numbers down around 10 degrees Fahrenheit. That has created some brutal working conditions through the night.
Motorists who plan to be out on the road today are reminded to allow extra travel time and to dress for the weather conditions they may encounter.
We have the following county by county report for District 1 and District 2
