Water levels at area dams continue to drop

Kentucky Dam and Lake Barkley are starting to release more water, giving those resorts some relief.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says that will bring lake levels down about a foot per day.

In the next two days, 900,000 gallons per second will be pouring out of Kentucky Dam.

Lake Barkley is smaller, so Barkley Dam will be discharging 750,000 gallons per second by Friday.

The river will rise as the dam lets out water, but no more flooding is expected.

The Corps says it will adjust the spillway gates if any concerns for flooding came up.

It says the lakes crested about 12 feet higher than average for this time of year.
