The crisis component of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program will begin on January 11, 2016.
The program helps low-income Kentucky families that are in a home-heating crisis.
The following is considered to be a home heating crisis:
– The household is within four days of running out of the fuel that is used as its heat source
– The household has received a past due or disconnect notice on their natural gas or electric bill
– The household’s heating costs are a part of rent and they have received an eviction notice due to non-payment
Applications will be taken at West Kentucky Allied Services offices in the Purchase area from January 11, 2016 to March 31, 2016, or until all funds have been expended. To find your local West Kentucky Allied Services office, click here.
When you apply you must bring with you:
– Social Security card for everyone in the household
– Proof of all income for every member in the household
– An eviction notice if heating costs are a part of rent
– A disconnect/past due notice if electric or natural gas is the heating source
– A metered utility bill to prove household residency
– Proof of last propane delivery to aid in determining if a household will be without fuel in four days or a statement from the propane dealing saying such
Those wanting to apply must also meet the 130 percent of the poverty income guidelines.
