BENTON – Saturday’s morning session of Hoopfest 2015 opened with a game between McCracken County and Massac County. Led by Tyce Daniel with 22 points, the Mustangs won 77-66 over the Patriots.

McCracken led by eight points after the first quarter and 12 at halftime, but a 20-point third quarter by Massac cut the Mustangs led to 46-43 at the end of the third quarter. McCracken had a big 31 point fourth quarter to pull out the 11 point win.

J.T. Weber led Massac County with 22 points with 10 each from Darian Roundtree and Noah Farmer. Cameron Cartright and Will Sivills added 13 points a piece for McCracken County.

Lexington Paul Lawrence Dunbar took on Madison Academy, AL, in game 11 of the Hoopfest. Dunbar’s Taveion Hollingsworth, game MVP, scored 33 points hitting 12 of 17 from the free throw line for the Bulldogs in their 76-62 win. Hollingsworth has an offer from Eastern Kentucky University.

Madison Academy took the lead from Dunbar just once in the game trailing 32-15 after the first quarter and 49-33 at halftime. Madison Academy out-scored Dunbar 29-27 in the second half and the team hit 85% from the free throw line in their 14 point loss.

Josh Langford scored 32 points for Madison Academy and was a perfect 9 of 9 from the free throw line.

Game 12 featured Hopkinsville High School and J.O. Johnson, AL in a fast-paced close game throughout with J.O. Johnson coming out on top 69-63 behind lead scorer Justin Hopkins with 28 points, a perfect 11 for 11 from the floor and 6 of 9 from the free throw line.

Justin Petty, the 17th ranked junior in the nation, added 17 points for J.O. Johnson and pulled down 14 rebounds. Kourtney Ware led Hopkinsville with 21 points. Petty currently has offers from five teams including Kentucky, Alabama and Auburn.
