Eleven years of 4-Hers getting crafty were celebrated on November 3rd! Thirty-five Marshall County 4-Hers got ready for the holidays at the 11th Annual 4-H Holiday Workshop. During the one day workshop, the 4-Hers learned to make various craft and food items. Several were going to give their handmade items as gifts for friends and family on their Christmas gift list.

The 4-Hers were broken into small groups and rotated through four work stations throughout the day. Marshall County Master Food Volunteer, Debi Dawdy, led the Spiral Soup Mix station with the help of Mackenzie Coil and the group teen leaders. At this station, the 4-Hers made a ready to add water and tomatoes and cook soup mix. They also learned how to measure ingredients and the importance of hand washing when preparing food.

The Decorative Storage Crates with a lid station was led by Judy Price, Alisha Boone, and Carol Thompson, 4-H Program Assistant. Preparing a bubble gum style candy dish gift were Julie Burroughs, Carol Bridges and Callie Bridges. Jody Morgan and John Miller led the canvas art station.

Each 4-Her group was assigned a teen leader including Nathan Tapscott, Savannah McKee, Ashlynn Kegel and Mattie Bebout. Lena Mallory, Marshall County 4-H Agent, and Carol Thompson, 4-H Program Assistant, made sure all the participants had a nutritious morning snack and lunch, got supplies, coordinated the “behind the scenes” needs, and confirmed all of the volunteers. The cost for the participants was kept down thanks to community support and the Marshall County 4-H Council.
