Meet the Marshals kicks off 2015-2016 Winter Sports Season

BENTON – Marshall County High School celebrated the winter edition of Meet the Marshals at Reed Conder Gymnasium Thursday evening. Boy’s and girl’s basketball teams, cheerleaders, bass team and archery team members were introduced followed by inter-squad scrimmages.

Before team introductions, the annual fish fry dinner was held in the high school cafeteria along with a silent auction that took place in the gymnasium.

The Lady Marshals played their first scrimmage at home on Monday against Lyon County and will play their final pre-season scrimmage at home on Monday, November 23rd, against Muhlenberg County. They will open the regular season December 1st at Ballard Memorial in a double-header with the Marshals.

Under Head Coach Joseph Simmons and Assistant Coaches Keith Bell, Mariah Wilson and Dan Langhi, the Lady Marshals 17 member roster will be led by the lone senior, Nikki Fehrenbacher; six juniors – Miyah Davis, Briley English, Hannah English, Paige Henson, Hannah Langhi and Lexee Miller; one sophomore – Chloe Kerrick and nine freshman – Corrin Bedwell, Emily Bridges, Tera Colson, Brianna Emery, Chloe Greer, Kathryn Howard, Whitnee Miller, Lorin Powell and Shelby Wadkins.

The Marshals, under Head Coach Gus Gillespie and Assistant Coaches Brandon Fisher, Brent Lovett and Scott McKenty will be led by four-year varsity player D.J. Pigg who is the only senior on this year’s squad. Joining Pigg are juniors Griffin Cavitt, Austin Shackleford, Warren King, Dawson Jolley, Cameron Thurman and Houston Harvey; sophomores – Connor Riley, Luca Nichols, Skyler Smith, Brady Morgan, Dylan Walters, Matt French and Aaron Reed and freshman – Austin Stockdale, Grant Wilson, Cole Wyatt, Griffin Ives, Weston Harper, Blake Myhand, Garrett Hurley, Bryce Powell and Dalton Reed.
