ABC and Budget Amendment Ordinances approved at Fiscal Court

BENTON – Marshall County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Tuesday, November 3rd hearing from North Marshall Water District Superintendent, Bobby Gifford, with a draw request for special project materials on the Oak Level tank pumping station to Cole Lumber Supply in the amount of $1,953.66 which was approved by the court.

Wendy Baxter updated the court on the Work-Ready program reporting that on November 19th a Work Force Innovations meeting will be held at 12:30 at the Bluegrass Community College in Lexington. They have been asked by the board to see if any of the county’s elected officials will be in attendance. The Work-Ready in Progress signs will be taken down soon and replaced with Work-Ready signs.

OLD BUSINESS
Assistant County Attorney, Jason Darnall read the second reading of Ordinance #2015-05 (ABC Ordinance) which the court approved.

The second reading of Ordinance #2015-06 (Budget Amendment) was read and approved by the court.

The county has been credited on its October AT&T bill in the amount of $1,031.20 as a result of an audit by Telecom Audit. More credits are to come in the next few months as a result of the audit. Telecom Audit receives half of the amount of credits found for their services for six months.

Way Avenue has submitted a petition for the road to be taken into the county. A public hearing will take place following the next Fiscal Court meeting on November 17th at 11:00.

NEW BUSINESS
A resolution has been received by the Transportation Cabinet in the amount of $150,000 for resurfacing various county roads which was approved and signed by Judge Chyrill Miller. The roads to be resurfaced have already been established.

Sanitation District #1 has received the resignation of board chairman Roy Carter, effective immediately, and the court approved upon recommendation Leslie Landers to fill that position.

The Marshall County Extension Council has nominated four individuals to serve on the Marshall County Extension Board and are Janice Bragg, Dennis Joseph, George Milam and John Miller. Two members terms expire on December 31, 2015 and only two of these individuals need to be appointed. The court approved upon recommendation the re-appointment of Janice Bragg and Dennis Joseph who already serve on the board.

Jason Darnall informed the court of a Kentucky Supreme Court decision to allow tax fees on every residence to help fund 911. This could potentially be a funding avenue for Marshall County to help fund 911 which the county will take at closer look at.

Darnall also reported on the old Post Office property in Calvert City. Those three entities involved with the property have voted to sell the property. The court plans to accept sealed bids for this property with the option of rejecting them.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
Court went into Executive Session to discuss a personnel matter with no resolution at this time.

The next meeting of the Fiscal Court is November 17, 2015.
