CLINTON – The 2015 volleyball season came to a close Wednesday at Hickman County for the Christian Fellowship Lady Eagles when they lost 3-0 to McCracken County in the 1st Region Tournament semi-finals. It was the first time the two teams have ever met on the volleyball court, not playing during the regular season in the three years since McCracken County’s consolidation.

The two-time defending Regional Champion Lady Mustangs are on track to win their third straight championship with just one more game standing in their way tonight when they play Marshall County in the finals.

McCracken County went up 10-2 in the first game before the Lady Eagles scored twice to close the gap slightly which would be as close as they would get the rest of the game, losing 25-11 as McCracken closed the game out on two back to back kills by Cate Hyde.

CFS kept game two a little closer, highlighted by a nice tip at the net for a point by Karlee Phillips to keep the Lady Eagles in the game, trailing 20-15, and a long rally that ended on a kill by McCracken’s Courtney Griffith. McCracken County won game two 25-16.

Game three was very much like the first game, with the Lady Mustangs jumping out to a 12-2 lead, going on to take the game 25-11 and win the match to advance to the championship game.

CFS finishes the season with a record of 25-13, 18-5 in the region and just one loss in district play. Three seniors played their final game for the Lady Eagles – Rebekah Muller, Emily Nelson and Kailey Hicks.
