Lady Marshals finish 11th, Tyree tied for 6th at state tournament

BOWLING GREEN – After Friday’s first day of the KHSAA Girl’s State Golf Championship Friday, the Lady Marshals landed in a solid 8th place in team standings to make the cut for Saturday’s final round.

Bailey Tyree led the Lady Marshals at the end of day one with a 2-under par 70 joined by Hallie Riley who finished with an 11-over 83, Savannah Howell with 92 and Kennadi Spaggs with 94 for a team total of 339. Also playing for the team was Karissa Jordon who shot 105.

Tyree was tied for 3rd with Murray’s Sarah McDowell behind Tilghman’s Teri Doss tied for first at 3-under.

The three top Region 1 players would carry their momentum into day two of the tournament with Doss winning the state title with a 6-under par 138 shooting 3-under 69’s on both days. Tyree finished tied for 6th place with a 4-over 148 (70-78) and McDowell would finish 5th at 3-over 147 (70-77).

Madison Central won the team title at 53-over par, Elizabethtown was second at 56-over par and Paul Lawrence Dunbar third at 60-over par. The Lady Marshals finished the tournament in 11th place at 129-over par.

Riley finished her two-day state tournament at 34-over 178 (83-95) and tied for 55th, Howell finished 46-over 190 (92-98) tied for 60th, Spraggs at 48-over 192 (94-98) in 71st place and Jordan was 56-over 200 (105-95) in 76th.
