DRAFFENVILLE – The Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce in Marshall County is pleased to announce that Food Giant in Draffenville has been named “Business of the Month” for the month of October 2015. Food Giant came into Draffenville almost four years ago and breathed life back into what was formerly an IGA grocery store in the community.
Food Giant is an awesome asset to this area and a convenient stop off for many lake visitors stocking up for their time at Kentucky Lake. In the four years that they have been in operation the store continues to make major improvements such as new freezer section in 2013, new produce coolers in 2014, new dairy and meat coolers in 2015 and are currently in the process of adding coolers to house beer and wine coolers once their application for a license has been approved.
“The community has been very good and supportive of our business and given us the ability to grow and we are still growing” said store manager Ken Frayser.
This store in Draffenville provides both full and part-time jobs for about 45 people. If you haven’t visited the store in a while you need to do so, it is so much more than just a grocery store. In addition to providing several brands of products, they also operate an in-house bakery which provides a delicious line up of cakes, pies and cookies, an in-house deli for custom sliced cold cuts and cheeses, daily hot items for plate lunches which include some of the best fried chicken in the area, plus they will soon begin taking orders for all your Thanksgiving and Christmas meal needs.
But that’s not all, they also sell, tobacco products, postage stamps, money orders, Kentucky Lottery tickets, plus handle propane gas exchange, provide Western Union Service and cash local payroll checks.
Be sure and stop by and check out all this little gem of Draffenville has to offer. Their hours of operation are currently Monday–Sunday from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, but will probably scale back to closing at 9:00 pm during the months of January and February.
