Madisonville and Graves County win Mad Marshall Dash

BENTON – Graves County girls and Madisonville boys won the combined varsity and middle school results of the Mad Marshall Dash Thursday on the cross country course at Marshall County High School. Marshall girls and boys placed 5th  in combined scoring.

The unique race splits the field that starts in opposite directions, crosses paths mid-race then meets up for a mass finish.
Madisonville’s Erika Wallace won the varsity girl’s 3200 meter race in 13:14.46, McCracken’s Rebekka Walker crossed in 2nd in 13:38.59 and Marshall’s Spring Dolbee took the 3rd spot in 13:45.59.

Haley Pagel (14:28.97) and Valerie Shutt (15:25.41) had the 2nd and 3rd fastest times for the Marshall girls placing 11th and 28th. Results from the rest of the Marshall field; Jade Ford 30th, Jordyn Ray 42nd, Bailey Sandlin 43rd, Haley Ford 44th, Sarah Thompson 51st, Cora Robinson 65th and Kourtney Gregory 69th.

Running at the same time and same distance as the varsity team, the middle school girls race was won by Carley Dowdy of Graves County in 13:29.56. Carley’s time would have placed 2nd in the varsity race.

Taking 6th and 9th for the Marshall Middle team was Alexia Minter (14:05.46) and Tarryn Story (14:19.48). Their times would have placed them 7th and 9th in the varsity race. Also races for the girl’s middle school team was Jada Driver 17th, Maggie Edwards 27th, Hope Howard 31st, Zoe Short 33rd and Larissa Holt 35th.

In the boy’s varsity race, Graves County’s Marcos Macias took 1st in 10:34.10 and Madisonville’s Barrett Eddings and Alex Schell crossed in 2nd and 3rd place. Madisonville placed runners in 7 of the first 11 places across the line.

Jackson Yates had the best finish for Marshall County placing 13th in 11:36.12, Kyle McClain the second fastest in 23rd with a time of 11:55.44 and Joseph Reed in 28th with the 3rd fastest in 12:05.50.

The rest of the Marshall varsity boys finishers were Cole Wyatt 32nd, Jacob Hainaut 33rd, Matt Ray 37th, Jackson Reed 39th, Garrett Fulgham 51st, Curtis Bradley 53rd, Alex Colburn 66th, Dallyn Turner 73rd and Austin Bolen 78th.

Jonah Mitchell from Muhlenberg took 1st in the boy’s middle school race in 10:54.61, taking place along with the varsity race. Jonah’s time was 4th best overall in both varsity and middle school divisions. The top three Marshall finishes came from Ethan McCarty in 7th with 12:25.99, Samuel Lanham was 12th in 12:56.54 and Darren Jackson 16th in 12:56.54.

Fifteen more crossed the line for the middle school boy’s team; Christian Cosner 22nd, Thomas McLean 37th, Kiefer Court 45th, Jackson McMillen 47th, Parker Kerrick 52nd, Ethan Riley 56th, Kian Court 63rd, Jack Burkeen 66th, Caleb Nichols 68th, Avery Minter 69th, Tyler Treas 70th, Zach Artis 76th, Ben Burkeen 77th, Jack Noles 78th and Grady Ward 84th.
