A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will restrict traffic to one lane on the KY 348 overpass crossing the Julian Carroll-Purchase Parkway at the exit 43 interchange in Benton beginning on Monday, September 21.

Traffic on KY 348 will be restricted to one lane within the Purchase Parkway Exit 43 interchange. This will allow a contractor for the KYTC to remove the median that runs down the middle of the overpass.

This is a daytime lane restriction with alternating traffic flow that will be controlled by flaggers. The restriction is expected to be in place for three to four days as weather permits. The KYTC says as soon as the median has been removed from the overpass, normal traffic flow will resume.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the main contractor on this $8.1 million project. The anticipated completion date is June 30, 2016.

The project will bring the interchange up to current Federal Highway Administration standards and is among nearly ten major projects totaling $260 million. The goal is to allow Interstate 69 to be extended southward along the Purchase Parkway and northward along the Pennyrile Parkway.
