UK defeats UNC in Alumni Game

Kentucky defeated North Carolina 122-115 this past Sunday in the UK/UNC Alumni Game. The game raised over 1.1 million for charities in Kentucky and North Carolina.

The rosters were a bit lopsided with the Wildcats’ plethora of young NBA talent overwhelming an elder UNC squad. DeMarcus Cousins led the Wildcats with 33 points, 18 rebounds, and six assists. Harrison Barnes had a game-high 39 points. All six of Calipari’s Kentucky teams were represented on the court.

Stoops’ Troops on the rise

With Kentucky’s 26-22 victory at South Carolina on Saturday, the Wildcats ended a 22-game road losing streak and appear poised to make a bowl game for the first time since 2010. The Wildcats needed to win two of their first four games to have a shot to make a bowl game. Now at 2-0, Stoops’ squad has a chance to make some noise in the SEC East.

The Wildcats host Florida this Saturday with a chance to end the 28-game losing streak to the Gators. Florida enters the game as a 4.5 point favorite over the Wildcats. The Gators are 2-0 under first year head coach Jim McElwain with victories over New Mexico State and East Carolina.

Calapari joins Rupp, Pitino in Hall Fame

John Calipari was enshrined into Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame on Saturday. Calipari was introduced by former Wildcat Pat Riley and was joined by over 70 former players on stage.

Calipari joins Adolph Rupp and Rick Pitino as the only Kentucky coaches to be inducted. Calipari was joined in the 2015 class by former Wildcat and ABA star Louie Dampier. The two became the ninth and 10th Kentucky representatives to be enshrined.
