BENTON – Marshall County Emergency Management Director Curt Curtner is calling on residents across the county to show support for law enforcement in this afternoon’s “Sea of Blue” campaign.

“We kind of jumped on a national campaign to support law enforcement because of all the recent murders and assaults of police,” Curtner said. “We want to let the local and national communities know we are behind law enforcement 110 percent. It’s been open season on law enforcement and it needs to stop. We need to get society back on track.”

Curtner requests that all residents show their support for law enforcement by hanging blue ribbon on their car antennas and using a blue light outdoors at their homes or place of business.

“When you see law enforcement in the community, go up to them and thank them for what they do, and let them know you support them,” Curtner said. “We’d love to have any and all members of the community show their support.”

Curtner said the national campaign is for today, but is hopeful a swell of support for law enforcement will last longer.

“It’s a national campaign this afternoon, but we’d love for people to continue to display these symbols daily and for the next year. That would be awesome. I’d love for the community to continue to show support for law enforcement agencies,” he said
