CALVERT CITY – Grammy award-winning contemporary Christian music artist, Geoff Moore, as well as local Bluegrass artists, will be headlining an upcoming event for Kevin Neal, candidate for Marshall County Judge/Executive.

Moore and his band, The Distance, won two Grammy Awards in the 90’s.  As a solo artist, he was nominated for a Dove Award in 2007.  Geoff has written countless songs with his best friend Steven Curtis Chapman and played alongside the best in contemporary Christian music.  He’s also a committed supporter of Compassion International, a child-advocacy ministry that pairs compassionate people with those who are suffering from poverty.  The ministry releases children from spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty.  The goal is for each child to become a responsible and fulfilled adult.

Moore also has a great appreciation for veterans and those currently serving in uniform.  He took notice of Mr. Neal’s 20 years of decorated service in the Marine Corps. as well as his 16 years as a Paducah police officer.  Kevin served a humanitarian tour in Haiti, a show-of-force tour in Bosnia and three combat tours in Iraq.  He led 50 Guardian Angel Missions as a sniper platoon sergeant while in Fallujah, Iraq.  The Purple Heart and the USO Hero Award for Leadership are among his many awards.  He’s now running for Marshall County Judge Executive after retiring from the Paducah Police Department on August 1st.

The event will be held at the Calvert City Memorial Park Amphitheatre off 5th avenue on Saturday, September 12th.  Everything is free.  A fish dinner will be served at 4 p.m.  Local Bluegrass artists will take the stage from 4:30 to 5:30.  Geoff Moore, the night’s headline act, will take the stage at 5:45.  Anyone attending should bring a chair!  Should the forecast call for a significant chance of rain, the event will be moved to the Calvert City Civic Center just up the street from Memorial Park.
