Great start to season by cross country teams at Calloway 3K

MURRAY – Marshall County’s cross country team kicked off their season with great results at the Calloway County 3K Opener on Tuesday. The boy’s varsity and middle school teams took first, girl’s varsity second and middle school girls third.

Graves County’s Marcos Macias took first overall in the boy’s race in a time of 9:52.86.  Joseph Reed placed third in 10:55.51 followed by Jackson Reed in 10:59.86 in fourth as the top two Marshall finishers.

Of the 15 Marshals in the race, seven placed in the top 25. Kyle McClain placed 6th, Jackson Yates 7th, Cole Wyatt 12th, Jacob Hainaut 15th and Jacob Rushing 23rd.

In team standings following the Marshals, Graves County placed second, McCracken County third and Carlisle County fourth.

Spring Dolbee’s ninth place in 13:48.52 was best in the girls race with first going Graves County’s Carley Dowdy in 12:43.70. The girl’s team placed six in the top 25 with Vanessa Smith in 10th, Hadley Pagel 15th, Jade Ford 19th, Valerie Shutt 23rd and Haley Ford 24th.

Graves County’s girls took first, Marshall County second, Calloway County third and McCracken County fourth.

The middle school boy’s team fielded 18 runners in the 2K event, taking second through fifth with Ethan McCarty in second in 7:17.33, Samuel Lanham placed third, Mason Cosner fourth and Christian Cosner fifth, capturing the team title as well.

Tarrin Story placed highest among middle school girls crossing in fourth in 8:57.71, Alexia Minter placed sixth and Jada Driver was 12th.
