MAYFIELD – Over the past 10 seasons, the Marshals have won 18 of 22 contests with Graves County, but in Tuesday’s 23rd meeting over that time span the Eagles handed the Marshals one of their worst losses in program history.

Rodrigo Garcia led the Eagles with four goals and three assists in their win over the Marshals.

Always the game circled in red on everyone’s schedule as the team to beat, the Marshals struggled to equal the quickness of Graves County who scored just seconds into the game.

Dawson Jolley scored the Marshals only goal of the game in the first half on a penalty kick which cut the Eagles lead at the time to 2-1, but from that point on they went on to score six unanswered goals.

Graves County was led by junior Rodrigo Garcia with four goals and three assists. Freshman Alex Arellano and junior Marin Murillo each added two goals in the Eagles 8-1 win.

Head Coach Andy Pagel said his team did not complete well in the first half, especially in the first 20 minutes.

“We’ve got a long way to go”, Pagel said. “We’re not used to this, they’re not used to this. I don’t know if they could play better than they played in that first half.”

The Marshals will play another important district game tonight against a young, quick Calloway County team who have won their first two games of the season over Christian County and Murray. The girl’s game will be first at 5:30 followed by the boys.
